New Zealand

In recent years, New Zealand has opened up its education sector to foreign students. There are plenty of excellent offers at all educational levels that you can explore as a student. Getting a student visa in New Zealand is not difficult when you meet all the required conditions as laid by the concerned authorities. There are multiple alternatives under the student visa category with distinct features

Fee Paying Student Visa

1. If you have an intention to study full-time in New Zealand for a period spanning more than 3 months, then the fee paying visa option is for you. You need to pay the total cost of your course and also require to be enrolled with an approved / accredited education provider
2. You should have an official offer from the educational institute in New Zealand. There should be an official offer letter that must be included in your application process (a copy would do)
3. You must have the required financial resources to stay in New Zealand during the course of your study and also pay all the fees related to the course
4. With this visa, you can stay in New Zealand for 4 years at maximum
5. The visa is applicable to study in schools, tertiary educational institutes
6. You are eligible to work for 20 hours / week (maximum) during weekdays and full-time during weekends / holidays
7. When the duration of the visa finishes, you can apply for another student visa or even a work visa

Exchange Student Visa

1. You need to be included under a specific and certified student exchange scheme in order to avail this visa
2. In this case too, you should be enrolled in study course with at least 3 months (or more) duration
3. You should be able to show documentary proof that you have been accepted under an accredited student-exchange scheme
4. Your location needs to be outside New Zealand while applying for the visa
5. After the duration of the visa is over, you can apply for a typical visitor visa that allows you to stay in New Zealand for a period of 3 more months
6. The duration for which you can stay in New Zealand depends on the exchange period of the study course. The maximum limit in this context is 4 years

Foreign Government Supported Student Visa

  • 1. Under this visa scheme, you need to have a study loan from a foreign government or must have a foreign scholarship, with an intention to study a full-time course in New Zealand
    2. You should be able to provide documentary evidence that your tuition fees will be / are financed by a foreign government through a loan or scholarship
    3. The amount of money that you are eligible to receive from the foreign government in the form of a loan or scholarship should be enough to sustain your living in New Zealand, besides paying your tuition fees in full
    4. You can stay up to a maximum of 4 years with the visa
